The first free G-Cloud app for secure file sharing and team collaboration makes it even easier for public sector organisations to benefit from cloud technology
Cloud collaboration software vendor Kahootz today introduces its G-Cloud Starter App, offering a free version of its software to all the 29,000 public sector organisations permitted to purchase cloud services via the UK Government CloudStore. The App gives instant access to the independently ISO 27001 certified Kahootz service, and means that secure file sharing and team working between public sector organisations has never been easier, or quicker.
As the UK Government targets shared service savings of up to £600 million per year, the Kahootz G-Cloud Starter App will benefit Government department and local authority employees seeking effective ways to collaborate and share information. The App will particularly benefit those who need a no hassle, instant solution for secure file sharing between several people over a short period of time, without running security risks associated with sharing documents by email or postal delivery services.
The Kahootz G-Cloud Starter App has been developed especially for the fast-expanding CloudStore, which like Apple’s App Store, will soon provide lists of free apps and is expected to facilitate 50% of all new Government IT spend by 2015. The freemium model App provides a free Kahootz secure workspace with access for up to 5 people which is ideally suited for small project teams where even the CloudStore’s simplified procurement route would be overkill. Extra workspaces storage and users can be added at any time by upgrading to the full Kahootz service, without any interruption to workspace activity. Available from as little as £100 per month, this will not be a tough decision to make once the service has shown how useful it is.
“When we made our G-Cloud submission we made a bold commitment to offer a free service right across the UK public sector,” explained John Glover, a Director of INOVEM the company behind Kahootz.com. “This offer is designed to build on the innovative G-Cloud programme which aims to simplify the adoption of cloud services. Even though our G-Cloud Starter App is free it includes the same level of support and security that our fully licensed clients benefit from.”
Kahootz has been available via the G-Cloud since early 2012 and has over 70 public sector organisations using its service, including HM Prison Service, the Central Southern NHS Commissioning Support Unit and Devon County Council.
